God has honored human beings, so he has offered guidance to them through messengers. These messengers had been sent to guide people to the right path and warn them not to go astray. If you think about it, you will find that everyone needs a guide even, the baby needs someone to teach him how to eat, drink, speak, live this hard life. Like a baby, we need guidelines and an established basis to follow. So, God sent us messengers to know more about Him, to become closer to Him. Finally, you will attain happiness in this life and the Hereafter.
First, the messengers started to establish logic evidence that proves God’s existence. They started to raise questions concerning the existence of mankind and the world such as “who brought you here!”, “who created earth and heavens and what is in between them!”, “it must be a huge power behind this world!”, “there is a powerful creator who brought all these things!”. Then people get convinced that there must be a creator and a powerful being who created this world for a purpose. The second phase is to prove God’s oneness.
Imagine that you are in a country ruled by two leaders, you must find division in the country, some support one and some support the other. There must be chaos everywhere, so it is logical to have one leader to rule any country. If there are more than one god, they would quarrel together. The Holy Quran mentioned this issue. Quran proves God’s oneness stating “Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined.” (quran.com/21/22)
The Same Message
The essence of the message of all messengers is to worship one God. It is not Islam only that commands people to worship God alone. In the Gospel according to Luke 4:8, it is recorded that devil asked Jesus to worship him, but Jesus said: “it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.” This indicates the essence of Jesus’ message. Quran also stated many of the messengers’ stories that imply that their messages are based on monotheism. For example, the messengers Noah, Hud, Saleh, Lot, and Shu’ayb who said to their people “O my people! worship Allah! you have no deity other than Him.”
All messengers were sent with common messages that call for believing in Allah the only One who is worthy of worship, His messengers, His angels, the Hereafter. The target of all religions is to attain happiness in this life and in the Hereafter.
To conclude, all religions are based on one message. This message is the access to salvation. Quran states “Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] – those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness – will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (quran.com/2/62) “We all have one true message and one true God.”
