Is Islam the Fastest-growing Religion

Islam is experiencing significant growth worldwide instead of distortion campaigns and wars against Islam. Nowadays, people have become aware that TV shows and news are directed to distort the image of Islam and Muslims.

After the 7th of October 2023, everything is clear for mindful people. It is now easy to differentiate between the good and evil, the true and false and the oppressed and oppressor.

During October 2023, many videos of non-muslims reacting to reading the Quran for the first time went viral. For example, an American woman on Ticktok called Megan Rice started reflecting on the Quran and inviting others to read and reflect on its Ayat. Surprisingly, she is now a Muslim. Who imagines that a war in Gaza, a small city, can guide people to the light of Islam?

Why is Islam the Fastest Growing Religion?

Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions globally. There are many reasons for the spread of Islam. Let’s divide the reasons into two categories; the intra-factors and inter-factors. Keep in mind that if Allah wills, any impossible thing can be possible.

Pure monotheism, the miraculous nature of the Quran, and the universality of Islam are among the internal factors embedded in the religion itself by Allah Almighty to preserve His religion.

1. Pure Monotheism

Monotheism (Tawheed) is the belief in one God. It is the core message shared by all prophets throughout history. Yet, some Christians are confused because their religion claims to follow monotheism but it has contradicting principles. On the other hand, Islam straightforwardly emphasizes the pure essence of monotheism. This is crystal clear for the seekers of truth.

2. The Miraculous Nature of the Quran

Although the Quran was revealed over twenty-three years ago, its profound eloquence, wisdom, and guidance captivate hearts and minds in our modern age. Many people choose Islam after being inspired by the transformative power of the Quran.

Islam is a universal message to the whole world yet to humans and jins. Allah Almighty says: We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a mercy for the whole world.” (21:107) It is not just a message for the past, present and future, but we can say that it is a message that guides the past, present and future. It is a timeless message for all people around the world.

4. Conversion and intermarriages

Western historians have widely narrated that the spread of Islam in the past was a result of forced conversions. Contrary to the myth that Islam spread by the sword, historical evidence shows that t he truth of Islam spread through the word. Intermarriages also encourage conversion. High birth rates, conversion and intermarriage, youthful demographics and increased awareness contribute to this growth.

1. High Birth Rates

Having children is a divine blessing and beautiful adornment with which Allah has ordained this world. It is prophetic advice also for married couples to build a big family. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “Marry women who are loving and very prolific, for I shall outnumber the peoples by you.” [Abu Dawud and An-Nasa’i]  He () also said “When the son of Adam dies his actions are cut off except for three: A continuing charity, or some knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous son who makes supplication for him.” [Muslim].

2. Youthful Demographics

A significant portion of the Muslim population is young, which can lead to a higher growth rate compared to older populations in other religions.

Islam is the Fastest-growing Religion in Japan

Islam is indeed one of the fastest-growing religions in Japan. However, Islam remains a minority faith. The question is how Islam started from a small desert city in the Arabian Peninsula to eventually reach Japan?! Immigration, cultural interest, conversions, globalization, and community resources are some factors contributing to its growth.

Conclusion

Islam is the true religion of God. Allah Almighty says:It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.” (15:9). The reminder here means the Quran which was sent to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) via Jibril to be the final divine Scripture to the whole world.

Allah Almighty revealed the Book and promised to preserve it. Thus, Islam will continue to grow till the Hour. When talking about the reason for this spread it is important to say that it is a divine will. May Allah choose us among his devoted Servants to spread this light.
