Women are honored, protected, and endeared in Islam. A wife’s rights are obligations to her husband, which include:
- Spending on her and their children as good as he can afford with lawfully earned income.
- Treat her with love, kindness, mercy, and care.
- If he dislikes something about her, he should be wise about correcting her and should follow the course set by Allah for this correction.
- A man must not refrain from having intercourse with his wife and vice versa, and if he does (for a valid/lawful reason) he should do it while residing at their home.
- A husband should make things easy for his wife, or even better, help her with chores and what he requires from her, following the example of Muhammad (PBUH).
- A husband must be a role model for the wife in particular and the family (children and others in his care) in general, and guide them in this world and the hereafter by teaching and following them up to enjoin good and forbid evil.
- A man should not expose the secrets (personal and private matters between spouses) of his wife and vice versa, and/or speak of their intimacies.
- Protecting and sheltering her and the whole family is the responsibility of the husband.
- Husband beautifying himself for his wife is a recommended deed in Islam as much as it is recommended to a wife to beautify herself for her husband.
