What is the meaning of a miracle and what are the types of miracles. We will present 10 miracles from the Quran as example of each type and sub-type, so we hope to include them as much as possible!

What does the miracle mean?

The definition of a miracle can be summed up as something supernatural or above logic.

It is an unexpected thing that God gives to the prophets as proof and evidence of their sincerity, and it is something that humans are unable to do or do anything similar because it is a divine act only.

As for magic and the delicate works practiced by some people in physical or spiritual sports, it does not fall under the meaning of a miracle, because each of these things has methods that any person can learn, prophet, and practice only if he learns how to do them through personal effort and practice.

But supernatural things do not fall under the power of human beings, and they do not have a specific means or possibility that we can learn and do through them.

Now let us provide you with a list of Quran miracles to prove why Quran is a miracles!

What are the Types of Miracles?

The miracles that the Noble Quran told us about, and with which God sent the Messengers, are divided into two parts

It means the extent to which the miracle can be seen with the eye or not. It is divided into:

1. First Type of Miracles: The tangible miracles

It means the miracles that we can see clearly, and they are often temporary miracles because they descend upon the people with the da’wah, so they see it in order to be instant proof of the truth of this message, then it goes away with the Prophet’s departure and death.

In order for us to understand the meaning, let us take examples of the miracles that God mentioned in His Great Book.

A. Tangible miracles Example: The miracle of fire with our Prophet Ibrahim

And that was when his people threw him into the fire because of his smashing their idols, so God Almighty said to the fire, “O fire, be cool and peace for Abraham.”

This miracle was witnessed by all the attendees at that time when the fire violated its physical properties by the will of God and Abraham came out alive.

B. Tangible miracles Example: Musa’s miracles

We can admit that Musa had the greatest share of tangible miracles

When God sent him to his people and said to him, Throw your stick, and it turned into a great snake and everyone saw it in fear and panic.

And the splitting of the sea into two halves that he and his people can cross between in full view and hearing of all.

And other miracles, such as his hand entering his pocket, it comes out white without harm, and we cannot neglect mentioning the miracle of him hitting a stone to get water out of it.

All of these miracles are tangible miracles witnessed by the audience and ended with the end of the life of our Prophet Moses, because the tangible miracles are temporary, as we mentioned.

C. Tangible miracles Example: The miracles of Jesus, peace be upon him

Healing people with “leprosy” and reviving the dead, With God willing, this considered one of the most prominent miracles that our Prophet Jesus descended upon his people, as well as the miracle of his birth in the first place.

Also the miracle of him speaking in the cradle, which is a miraculous thing for a child who did not exceed a few hours of age.

All of these miracles have one thing in common, which is that they are tangible that people saw, heard and interacted with at the time of their revelation, and ended with the end of the situation.

2. Second Type of Miracles: Intangible miracles

Intangible miracle is a mental miracle that addresses the mind without anything visible or tangible thing.

That is, it is infinite or temporary and does not depend on the senses to perceive it, but only the mind!

To understand what these miracles are, let us look together at these example:

Intangible miracles Example: The miracle of Jesus

When he told people what they eat and what they save in their homes with the knowledge of God, and Allah mentioned that in His Noble Book where he said:

(وَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا تَأْكُلُونَ وَمَا تَدَّخِرُونَ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ)

“And I tell you what you will eat and what you will save in your homes. Indeed, in that is a sign for you if you are a believer” quran3: 49

We cannot pass this point and this kind of miracles without mentioning the Holy Quran

Which is the most important intangible miracle, it is just words, but it addresses the mind directly and has a great impact to the extent that everyone failed to mention even one verse similar to it.

3. Third Type of Miracles: limited space and time Miracles

Limited space and time Miracles are the type of miracles that took place in the physical world and Universe.

It means the miracles that occur on a spot-on earth at a specific time so that they end and do not appear again.

A. Example of imited space and time Miracles: The miracle of the splitting of the moon

Indeed, this happened by the power of God, and the moon was divided into two halves, so they said: This is a magic, Mohamed Charmed us.

So that Allah revealed his saying:

“The hour is near and the moon has split. And if they see a sign, they turn away and say, Continuous magic”

 اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمْرُ. وَإِنْ يَرَوا آَيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِر))

quran 54:1-2

B. Example of imited space and time Miracles: The miracle of increasing the food

It is also one of the limited miracles, because it took place in a specific land and time, when our noble Prophet was in the Battle of the Trench “EL-KHANDAK” when the Prophet, may God bless him and his family, fed a thousand people from a small sheep and a saa’ of barley.

And this miracle was repeated with him when Abu Talha said to Umm Sulaym:

I heard the Prophet of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, weak and I feel that he is hungry, so do you have anything?

She said: Yes, so she took out lobes of barley, then took out a veil for her, wrapped the bread in some of it, then sent me with it to the Prophet of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in the mosque with the people.

The Prophet asked her to bring what she had of food!

She came with bread, then the Prophet of God, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, said what he wanted to say, then he said to Abu Talha, “Leave ten of the companions to eat.” They went out, and then he said: Permit ten, and so on until all the companions ate, and their number was seventy or eighty men!

4. Fourth Type of Miracles: Unlimited time and space miracles

They are miracles that are not linked to a specific time or place, such as the Holy Quran.

It is a constant challenge and a miracle that you can deal with and see daily as if you came down yesterday!

Quran is a miracle that gets divinely preserved from the minute it was revealed until the end of time, thus acts as a renewable source of guidance, healing, satisfaction, awe, and inspiration to all people at all times!

And let us say that the miracles contained in the Quran were not limited to this extent. There are miracles related to the rhetorical aspect in which the Holy Quran was written, as we mentioned. It includes eloquence and fluency which the best poets were unable to imitate.

It also includes miracles related to the scientific aspect. It did not stop at mere miraculous things. There are verses that were used by Scientists to put the hypotheses of their experiences and see all that it is necessary for science to reach one of the facts mentioned by the Holy Quran 1000 years ago, such as the black hole and the shape of the Earth and many others. We will mention it together in detail, but later…

Don’t you feel proud, dear Muslim reader! All of these things are inside a book that God has sent to you!
