SUMMARY:

This article explores how a revelation-centered daily routine builds a productive Muslim identity, covering spiritual habits, family life, and specific roles and practices for women.

The daily life of a Muslim centred on revelation is well-organised and highly productive. I looked into the distress caused by the feeling of being disoriented because of the monotonous days and the rapid passage of time, and by reflecting on the revelation-designed daily life of a Muslim, I can find no complaint.

Your habits determine your identity. Throughout this article, we will explore how Muslims can develop their identity through their daily life. The article is divided into two sections: the first section is for all Muslims in general, while the second one is for women.

Let’s talk about Muslims’ daily life, beliefs and daily lives of muslims, morning routine: faith and family, and worship and spiritual practices throughout the day. Let’s answer the following question: What do Muslim women wear on a daily basis? How many times does a Muslim woman pray a day? Can Muslim women work or study?

Muslims Daily Life

Every Muslim should structure their day around the five daily prayers to encourage themselves to perform prayers on their due time. Islam builds a comprehensive system for the individual to boost his faith through his relationship with Allah Almighty, himself and people. A perfect Muslim daily life teaches us how to take care of our body, brain and heart at the same time without neglecting any side. This helps us build a healthy lifestyle and gives each day meaning and direction.

Beliefs and Daily Lives of Muslims

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said,

“There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6412]

Wasting time and failing to prioritise the checklists is a problem faced by many people. When a Muslim looks at his schedule, he can see that Islam organises the daily routines and weekly and monthly checklists. It also provides him with annual checklists, when reflecting on Ramadan, the two feasts and other virtuous days.

Believing that Revelation was sent to guide us to the right path in all aspects of our lives, we can reflect on the beliefs that add value to the daily lives of Muslims through daily, weekly, and monthly deeds.

1. Daily Deeds

It is preferable to make supplications during times known for their heightened acceptance, such as the last third of the night, the time between the Adhan and Iqamah, during rain, the special hour on Friday, while prostrating, and just before breaking the fast. Morning and evening adhkar is a way for a Muslim to seek protection from Allah Almighty and glorify Him.

2. Weekly Deeds

It is Sunnah to fast every Monday and Thursday. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said,

“The deeds are presented on Monday and Thursday. Thus, I love for my deeds to be presented while I am fasting.”

[Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 747- Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Tirmidhi]

Friday also is a special day for all Muslims, it is a weekly feast. This day highlights the role of Mosques in Islam

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said,

The day of Friday is made of twelve hours. No Muslim finds himself supplicating to Allah Almighty during one of them but that Allah will give it to him. Thus, seek it out in the last hour after the afternoon prayer.

[Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1048- Sahih]

3. Monthly Deeds

It is Sunnah to fast three days each hijri month. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said,

“O Abu Dharr, if you are going to fast three days of the month, then fast on the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days.”

[Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 761- Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Tirmidhi]

Morning Routine: Faith and Family

Muslim’s daily life is guided by the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). This includes ethical principles such as honesty, kindness, and compassion, as well as guidelines for family life, business, and social interactions. This is the objective of faith.

Faith is not just to fast and pray, but also about having good manners. A life centered on these beliefs and practices provides a clear sense of purpose. Follow this tips with your family every day and you will see the difference inshaAllah.

-Tip (1): Renew Your Intentions

Gather your family and renew your intentions every day in the morning. For Muslims, Intention can change your whole life. Thus, renewing it daily is vital to make every step spiritually significant. Everyday actions turn into acts of worship.

-Tip (2): Fuel Your Day With Faith and Family.

It is important to have a morning routine as a family, starting before Fajr prayer. Before going to school, the office or the nursery, every member of a family needs to spend time together. It is recommended to gather your family around a book or a page of the Quran before breakfast. This reflects the solidarity of a family that can start a day together around something spiritual. It is an indirect message to your kids that our life rotates around faith and that faith is strengthening our bond.

-Tip (3): Journaling

Encourage every member of your family to write down in a paper or a notebook their feelings and ideas, and why they are grateful today. This is a positive way to start a day.

Worship and Spiritual Practices Throughout the Day

Every Muslim strive to reach a higher level of faith through their acts of worship and spiritual practices throughout the day. Here is a practical guide for every Muslim according to the Quran and Sunnah. This practical guide includes actions focusing on consistency, discipline, and building a strong spiritual foundation.

1. Observing the Five Congregational Daily Prayers

Observing prayers for men at Mosque is preferable, as it strengthens both individual and collective faith.

2. Maintaining Sunnah Prayers

Maintaining voluntary prayers is important. This builds a habit of worship so that even in times of spiritual weakness, the main obligatory prayers are not neglected.

3. A Daily Portion of the Quran

It’s recommended to read a fixed amount of the Quran every day (e.g., a chapter or half-chapter), regardless of the circumstances. Doing this in the early morning will be as a source of blessing for the rest of the day.

4. Observing Morning and Evening Adhkar:

This includes the specific remembrances recited after prayers, before sleep, and at other times.

5. Remaining in Your Prayer Spot After Each Prayer

Staying in place after each prayer is recommended to complete the remembrances and supplications.

6. Giving Charity, Even a Small Amount

Giving charity is a good deed, even if it’s as little as one pound.

7. Maintaining the Duha Prayer

This is a voluntary prayer performed between sunrise and Dhuhr.

8. Maintaining the Night Prayer (Qiyam al-Layl)

The minimum is a single unit of prayer (rak’ah) for Witr, so no one should deprive themselves of this great blessing.

9. Striving to Have Noble Manners

It is an Islamic teaching also to work on one’s character and treat all people with good morals and respect.

Woman Section

Daily Life of a Muslim Woman

The secret of atomic habits can be seen when speaking about the daily life of a Muslim woman, whether she is a wife, mother or daughter. The daily life of a Muslim woman should be based on four pillars: (1) her relationship with Allah, (2) self-care, (3) duties as a wife, and (4) the preparation for her role as a mother and a wife.

1.Her Relationship with Allah

In this section, we will answer the following question: How many times does a Muslim woman pray a day?

Muslim women, like men, should observe the five daily prayers, but unlike men, they do not have to perform them at the Mosque. There are specific rulings for women on their period. If you are interested, please visit this link.

For Muslim women, night prayer is an opportuity for spiritual reflection and private supplication and remembrance of Allah. It is a fuel for her to prepare for the day and ask Allah to help her be closer to Him Almighty.

2. Her Self-Care

Islam encourages women to take care of themselves. Self -care here does not only refer to body care, hair masks and spa days. It is about every woman’s lifestyle to take care of her body, heart and soul. Every true Muslim woman is striving nowadays to follow the Quran and Sunnah. One of the steps of self-care is to know the right Islamic dress for women.

What do Muslim Women Wear Daily?

For a mature Muslim girl, wearing the hijab is an obligation when outside the home or in the presence of non-Mahram men, as it embodies the principle of inner and outer modesty.

Allah Almighty says:

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.”

[The Noble Quran,(33:59)]

A hijab has some standards to be accepted. Every Muslim woman should adhere to the principles of covering the ‘Awrah, being loose, opaque, modest, and dignified. Women should avoid being perfumed when going out, wearing something resembling men’s clothes, and wearing a cloth which is an adornment in itself or a garment of fame or vanity.

She can dress up, wear perfume and make-up, but not in the presence of non-mahram men. It is also preferable to dress modestly during girls-only parties and gatherings. The ‘Awrah of a woman in front of other women is the area between the navel and the knees. When with her children, particularly her sons, a mother should wear modest garments.

3. Her Duties as a Wife

Islam encourages women to be devoted wives. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“The best of women is a woman who, if you look at her you are pleased, and if you command her she obeys you, and if you are absent she protects your honour and wealth.” The Quran describes the wives who protect their husbands’ honour and wealth during their absence, believing that Allah Almighty is watching them.

Allah Almighty says:

“protective of what Allah has entrusted them with…”

[The Noble Quran, (4: 34)]

Briefly, wifely devotion describes the actions of a pious woman; her true righteousness, good parenting skills, obedience to her husband, preservation of the sanctity of this marital sacred bond and strong covenant, and adherence to what Allah has commanded her to protect, during her husband’s absence or presence.

4. Preparation for her role as a Mother and Wife

Islam has established family relationships on three pillars: affection, mercy, and serenity. It has also prescribed specific rulings for the family, regulated the relationship between its members, and defined their rights and duties that they have to realize in order for them to fulfil their purpose in life, protect the family from internal deviations and problems, and ensure the happiness of its members. Thus, every woman should educate herself and study relevant Islamic rulings to be aware of her duties and rights.

Here comes an important question.

Can Muslim Women Work or Study?

Muslim women can both work and study. Nothing in Quran and Sunnah mentions depriving women of their right to work and study. The Islamic Shariah clearly stated the objectives of its application, regarding the individual, family, or society. If every man and woman maintained their domestic responsibilities in the best way and in accordance with the Divine command, they would achieve the most important general objectives of Islamic legislation by preserving the five necessities: the preservation of the self, the preservation of reason, the preservation of religion, the preservation of property, and the preservation of lineage.

Conclusion

Your daily life reflects your identity. By following the Revelation, the monotonous days and rapid passage of time no longer lead to a sense of being lost, but instead to a feeling of being well-ordered and productive.

This is a call to action to maintain a focused, disciplined spiritual life to prevent one’s heart from hollowness and mitigate the effects of distractions and the lack of clear priorities.
