Love In Islam – Love At First Sight

Here is love in Islam. Love at first sight in Islam first happens after Allah created Adam, and

First Love at First Sight Story in Islam

Adam stood in the middle of the garden, enveloped in exquisite beauty. The world was there to delight him—succulent fruit, majestic trees, green pastures, and sparkling waters.

Yet as Adam stood gazing at this grandeur, he felt intense loneliness. A powerful feeling of existential isolation overcame every fiber of his being. He had everything, yet he was missing something essential and integral to his happiness and completion. He might be the master of his world, but deep inside, he knew he was incomplete.

So God created “Eve” for him. Immediately and intuitively (Eve) sensed that they were deeply attached to one another. She would be an integral part of his life; a foundation of his existence. He would need her to accomplish his mission in this world.

Allah states in the Quran that He creates Eve from Adam:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ، واحِدَةٍ، وخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا ونِسَاءً
“O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women.”

[Quran, 4: 1]

What does Islam say about love at first sight?

If you have a “soul mate” then it is whom Allah has written for you eons ago that you are destined to be with. It doesn’t have to be one, and it might even be in the form of friends and family, not just spouses.

As the Prophet PBUH says describing this condition:

الأرْواحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ، فَما تَعارَفَ مِنْها ائْتَلَفَ، وما تَناكَرَ مِنْها اخْتَلَفَ
“Souls are troops collected together and those who familiarised with each other (in the heaven from where these come) would have affinity, with one another (in the world) and those amongst them who opposed each other (in the Heaven) would also be divergent (in the world).”

Sahih Muslim

Islam teaches that everything in this life is destined by Allah (God). As a part of believing in Allah and His sovereignty, Muslims believe that He knows and has written everything that will happen from now until judgment day.

That’s why often times when Allah speaks about future events in the Quran, He speaks in the past tense, as the future is the same as the past in His eyes.

Allah has already written and willed for you what is going to happen in the future. This is really soothing for the soul because whatever Allah has written for you, you will have, even if it took time, even if it seemed far away, and even if it seemed impossible! And whatever He didn’t write for you, there is no reason to be saddened over it, as it was never yours.

From that sense there is no need to worry about if you are going to meet your “soul mate” or not. If Allah has created it for you, you shall have it, just remember to be thankful to Him.

Also, remember to have patience and acceptance of whatever Allah has written, even if you don’t like it. Often times we like something at the first glance and it is so detrimental for us, and dislike something at the first glance and it is so good for us. Allah knows, and we do not know.

love in Islam  – Quotes From the Quran

there are many quotes from Quran and sunnah clarifying love in Islam:

In the following aya, Allah states that affection and mercy between the spouses is one of his signs to reflect on:

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مَوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy…”

[Quran, 30: 21]

Here Allah states the main purpose of marriage; to find comfort in your wife:

هو الَّذِي خَلَقَكم مِن نَفْسٍ واحِدَةٍ وجَعَلَ مِنها زَوْجَها لِيَسْكُنَ إلَيْها
He is the One Who created you from one soul, and from it made its mate so he may find comfort in her

[Quran, 7: 189]

Here the Prophet PBUH sets one of the conditions of true believers; love one another:

لا تدخلوا الجنَّةَ حتَّى تؤمنوا ولا تؤمنوا حتَّى تحابُّوا أولا أدلُّكم علَى شيءٍ إذا فعلتُموهُ تحاببتُم أفشوا السَّلامَ بينَكم
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “You shall not enter Paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum.”

Sahih Muslim

In this hadith, the Prophet PBUH describes the way to win Allah’s love to you:

وَمَا تقرَّبَ إِلَيَ عبْدِي بِشْيءٍ أَحبَّ إِلَيَ مِمَّا افْتَرَضْت عليْهِ: وَمَا يَزالُ عَبْدِي يتقرَّبُ إِلى بالنَّوافِل حَتَّى أُحِبَّه
The prophet (PBUH) said: Allah said: “My slave comes nearer to Me with anything that I love, more than what I have obligated on him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through voluntary worships till I love him,”

 Sahih al-Bukhari

In this aya, Allah asks His Prophet PBUH to set the true sign for loving Allah; to follow the Prophet PBUH:

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
“Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.””

[Quran, 3: 31]

Love in Islam before marriage: Is love before marriage Haram?

Piety and love are intertwined. It is an extension of the love of our Lord that we should love His creation and His blessings. Piety is also what makes us regulate our love for others and not be overtaken by it.

That’s why when we see someone whom we love and want to be with, we seek to have a relationship with them within the boundaries that Allah (God) Created for us: Marriage.

The Man loves his wife and his children, provides for them, and takes care of them; all while being rewarded for such love and happiness by Allah. And the woman loves her man and her children, does her best to raise them well and takes care of them; all while being rewarded for such love by Allah. And such is the love and generosity of Allah.

On the other side, if someone followed only his lust and sought to only satiate that even if it meant disobeying his Master, that isn’t actually love. That is simply an illusion of it, and the best parts have been lost to those who go into such relationships, all while incurring the wrath of their lord!

Love is haram or halal in Islam?

There is Halal love and there is Haram love in Islam. Halal is what Allah has permitted us to enjoy, and Haram is what Allah has forbidden us to touch. Just like everything Allah has created for us to enjoy, He made a “Halal” way to enjoy it as well as a “Haram” way. Love is just the same.

There is a very narrow understanding of “Love” when people speak of it, which oftentimes makes me wonder if these people have ever tested true love!

Love isn’t Lust!  Love is what you have in your heart for something that feeds your heart and makes it whole. It’s a deed of the heart, which manifests its existence on the limbs.

Halal love in Islam

You can love Allah, love His prophets, love the righteous people, love your friends, love your brothers and sisters, love your father and mother, and love yourself. All of this is Halal and necessary for a healthy heart and life.

Of course, spousal love is a form of love, the most misunderstood one. One can only taste its sweetness through the Halal way that Allah made: Marriage. By having something that binds the man and woman together, and then caring and building a healthy family together: that is the halal love you can enjoy better than anything that the devil offers outside it.

Unconditional love in Islam

To conclude, know that only Allah should have our unconditional Love.

Know that Allah has you covered, He has been providing to you his blessings since the moment you were born and to the moment of your death. He should be your ultimate loved one, so live your life by following His rules and regulations, which He has put for you for your own sake.
