Umrah is a form of worship in Islam that has several benefits. In this article, we will list six different benefits of Umrah along with the most popular Hadiths about Umrah.

1. Umrah is very rewarding | Reward of Umrah Hadith

Performing Umrah is very rewarding. God loves Umrah and greatly rewards for it. Although performing Umrah could be tiring for many people, it is worth great blessings from God.  Prophet Muhamad (PBUH) said:

“The reward of `Umrah is according to your expenses or the hardship (which you will undergo while performing it).”

(Sahih al-Bukhari 1787)

He (PBUH) said: “The performance of ‘Umrah’ is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous ‘Umrah” .

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

That’s why, Muslims love to frequently perform Umrah as long as they have the physical strength and the financial ability.

2. Umrah is a form of submission to God

Umrah is a form of submission to God (SWT) where Muslims respond to God’s call and follow the rituals He (SWT) legislated for them through Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Muslims leave behind their homes, families, and even their belongings to accept Allah’s call. They all come in white simple cloth as pure as a newborn.

3. Umrah is a great universal gathering of Muslims

If you watch the live stream of Al-Masjid Al-Haram, you will notice it is never empty!

All the time you find there Muslims of different ethnicities, colors, and backgrounds doing the same rituals and even wearing the same clothes during Umrah!

It is really amazing to have this universal gathering of Muslims at one place all the year.

4. Umrah is forgiveness of your sins

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

Perform Hajj and ‘Umrah, one after the other, for performing them one after the other removes poverty and sin as the bellows remove impurity from iron.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah 2887)

This makes Umrah a great opportunity for sinners, and for people who really seek God’s forgiveness.

God is the All-Forgiver, He forgives whatsoever you do whenever you are. However, His forgiveness would be more and more if you accept his call, become his guest, and perform Umrah!

5. Umrah is a great opportunity of supplication

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“The one who fights in the cause of Allah, and the pilgrim performing Hajj and ‘Umrah are guests of Allah. He invited them, and they responded to Him, and they asked Him and He gave to them.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah 2893)

Umrah is the time of prayer and supplication. All the way during your travel and even while performing Umrah, your tongue never stops asking for God’s blessings!

It is not Aladdin lamp’s fiction. It is God Almighty who owns everything and you are His guest. Just wish and He gives!

6. Umrah is an opportunity of prayer in Al-Masjid Al-Haram

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“One prayer in my mosque is better than one thousand prayers elsewhere, except the Sacred Mosque, and one prayer in the Sacred Mosque is better than one hundred thousand prayers elsewhere.”

Muslims performing Umrah, usually stay a few days in Al-Majid Al-Haram after they complete their Umrah. They usually pray the 5 prayers there, where their reward is multiple times the prayers anywhere else!
