AIDS is a disease that doesn’t have an actual treatment, only palliative to relieve symptoms. Islam’s cure of the problem of AIDS is “Prevention is better than Cure”. Stop the root cause of AIDS and you don’t need a cure to begin with.
Here we will learn the following:
Main cause of HIV
People with multiple sexual partners are most likely to be HIV positive; their risk is significantly higher than those with one partner. Anal sex is the riskiest type of sex for getting or transmitting HIV. Also, those who do homosexual acts have the highest risk of having STDs.
Islamic Cure for HIV And AIDS And HIV Prevention:
As we agreed, “prevention is better than cure.” Islam has many rulings that aim to prevent AIDS before it happens so let’s see some measures to prevent STDs and AIDS in Islam:
1. Islam Forbids sexual relationships out of marriage
The Religion of Islam is Forbidding having sexual relationships out of marriage, and with great punishment. The marriage structure in Islam makes it very hard by nature for AIDS to spread.
Quran mentioned in chapter 24, surah An-Noor:
The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse – lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment – The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator or a polytheist, and that has been made unlawful to the believers.”
[Qur’an, 24: 2-3]

2. Forbidding Anal Sex even for married couples!
As prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
Do not go into your women in their behinds for indeed Allah is not shy of the truth.”
[Hasan Hadith]
3. Forbidding homosexual deeds
Islam is Forbidding homosexual deeds completely, and making it a grave sin, while encouraging men and women to take an opposite partner, as marriage is not valid in any other form.
“Do you commit obscenity while you can see(its shamefulness) ? (54) Do you really lust after men instead of women? Rather you are an ignorant people.! (55)”
Surah An-Naml – 54-55

4. Islam encourages marriage
Islam didn’t only forbid the obscenities that cause HIV, but had also set clear rules to prevent them and minimize their possibilities:
- As mentioned in Quran:
And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (3)
[Qur’an, 24: 32]
- And Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
Whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding chastity. And whoever cannot afford it, then let him fast, for it will be a restraint for him.”

5. Islamic rules for men and women interaction:
Islam made rules for general interactions between men and women, like:
- No handshaking between foreigners!
Prophet Muhammad said,
For one of you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better for him than that he should touch a woman who is not permissible for him.”
[Sahih Hadith]
- No seclusion between unmarried couples, or non-family!
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
… A man is not alone with a woman but the third of them is Ash-Shaitan.”
[Sahih Hadith]
- Guard your vision! Guard your heart!
Both Men and Women are ordered not to gaze on one another and guard their vision:
In the Quran:
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do and tells the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests…”
[Qur’an, 24: 30-31]
What about AIDS Patients in Islam?
But even after what we’ve mentioned, we can’t mistreat or underestimate AIDS patients, who are being treated, as our prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said
O you who accepted Islam with his tongue, while faith has not reached his heart! Do not harm the Muslims, nor revile them, nor spy on them to expose their secrets. For indeed whoever tries to expose his Muslim brother’s secrets, Allah exposes his secrets wide open, even if he were in the depth of his house.”
[Hasan Hadith]
Conclusion – What is The Islamic cure for HIV and AIDS?
