“Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the standard ˹to distinguish between right and wrong˺….” (2:185)
Here we will learn the following:
What are the last 10 days of Ramadan?
The last 10 days of Ramadan are called “the best of times”. They are the best times for every Muslim to renew his faith, reclaim his heart and draw a new phase in his life. Why are the last ten days of Ramadan so important?
All the days of Ramadan are special. However, the last ten days are of extra significance. One of the main reasons for making these days of high importance is:
1. They have the night of glory (laylat al-Qadr).
Allah Almighty says about the virtue of this night:
إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْر”ِ”
“Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Quran˺ down on the Night of Glory.[[ It is also believed that the angels descend with all decreed matters for the whole year during that night (Al-Qadr also means ordainment or destiny). ]]” (97:1)
In the same chapter, Allah Almighty mentions that this night is better than any other thousand of months:
“The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months.” (97: 3)
Allah Almighty revealed the Quran to his Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) via Jibril, the archangel, (P.B.U.H) during this night. Thus, every Muslim should benefit from every second of it.

2. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave them intensive care out of the last ten days of Ramadan.
Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the last ten nights began God’s Messenger prepared himself for religious exercises, stayed awake at night and wakened his family. (Bukhari and Muslim.)
3. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made seclusion (itikaaf) on these days and encouraged people by his action to do the same.

The effect of the Quran and Ramadan on the Prophet (PBUH) is illustrated in this hadith:
Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was the most generous of the men; and he was the most generous during the month of Ramadan when Jibril visited him every night and recited the Qur’an to him…”[ii]
And every Muslim can change in this season if he seizes this opportunity well following the model of the Prophet (PBUH).
Ways to worship Allah in the last ten days of Ramadan and other days
The Prophet (saw) said: “The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions.” Thus, every deed is accepted by Allah if we focus on renewing our intentions.
All our life is for the sake of Allah. Thus, mothers preparing meals, fathers working all day, students at schools are playing an important role and will be accepted if they renew their intentions. No time is wasted. All our deeds will be accepted by Allah. This is a Divine promise.
The challenge is to reach a balance to benefit from this month and build a new relationship with Allah through Quran and night prayers.
Ramadan is not meant for preparing food, chatting with friends and spending all night with family members. Let’s gather around the Quran.
Let’s cooperate in distributing meals for the fasting. Let’s cooperate to be closer to Allah. Let’s build a new relationship with ourselves! For more illustration on how to make a positive change in Ramdan, read these articles:
